Description

The training centre of the Vauzelles sports complex is located 1.5 km away from the historic centre of Cognac as well as hotels (1 to 5 stars) and restaurants. Comprised of 2 high-level competition halls and a gymnasium, the centre includes an aquatic complex inaugurated in 2017 and an athletics track built in 2011. The entire complex is registered to accommodate people with disabilities.   Presentation of the sports complex : The Jean LACAZE handball room is equipped with a 40x20 metre handball court in moulded blue resin, a 450-seat grandstand, 4 large changing rooms, a sound system and plenty of storage. The main hall is equipped with a wood floor court replaced in 2012 – 40x20 meters for handball and 38 x18 for basketball. There are also 2 side stands with 1,000 and 500 seats, 4 changing rooms, a sound system and plenty of storage. For the recovery and tactical part, the complex has 2 meeting rooms of 300 and 50 sqm, an infirmary and a 1,016 sqm gym. Maintenance agents are present on the premises during opening times.

The complex has all the facilities described above on one site for good preparation for various disciplines.

The structures are in very good working condition and up to standards.

Its location, close to a 20,000 inhabitants town, in a residential setting, allows athletes to prepare in peace and serenity.

The complex is very regularly made available to associations for training, but also for athletes of national and international level.

During the year, the Grand Cognac area offers high-profile events (Cognac blues passion, cognac festival…) and more intimate events (Coup de Chauffe,..), making up an eclectic cultural offer.

Known for

The Vauzelles complex regularly hosts national and international events. The public of the territory of Grand Cognac was able to attend meetings of the first and second professional division of handball and basketball. The Harlem’s globe trotters, the European Table Tennis Cup quarter-final “France-Sweden”, the French gymnastics championships as well as international boxing galas were also organized by Grand Cognac’s associations.

These meetings are regularly broadcasted on sports television channels.
