Description

The Val’Auron lake is located approximately 2.5 hours to the south of Paris, close to the historic town centre of Bourges (once a royal town), which has approximately 66,000 residents and is part of an agglomeration of 100,000 people. Bourges and the lake are easy to access, via the A71 motorway or the Paris-Bourges train line (2 hour direct train). NAUTICAL CENTRE : The lake covers an area of 73,000 square metres and is 2,230 metres long. It is equipped with markings for 6 lanes of 2000 metres, a starting pontoon, and 4 embarkation / disembarkation pontoons adapted for rowing (including handicapped access). ROWING CENTRE : The Bourges club is dedicated to the sport of rowing and includes the following facilities: Changing rooms, weight-training equipment, indoor rowing tank, boathouse, rowing machines and fitness room, meeting room, and a clubhouse with adjoining terrace overlooking the lake.

Special features

In a welcoming and friendly environment, Bourges rowing club is used for both training and
hosting national competitions. It is well situated, being only 10 minutes from the town centre.
Access to the extensive facilities of the town of Bourges, such as a swimming pool, CREPS
(centre of excellence for sporting performance), many quality hotels and restaurants, and
medical services (hospital, clinic, sports physicians, physiotherapists etc) is easy thanks to the
excellent transportation infrastructure; this includes cycle and walking paths, bus routes, and
uncongested roads in a reasonable sized town where one enjoys living and visiting.
The Bourges rowing club has everything necessary to provide a high-quality welcome and
training experience. We have a team that is ready to help and advise you and provide the best
conditions for your Olympic preparations.

Reference site since 1983 for the organisation of dozens of French Rowing Championships
and international events.

2022 : French Championships, Junior 16 et Senior under 23 years, very soon
2019 : French Championships Juniors et Seniors.
2017 : French Championships Juniors et Seniors.
The lake and our club has also been used regularly by the French Paralympic team and the
RMBS (sporting reunions for the military wounded) for many years.
