Description

The Société Nautique de Corbeil-Essonnes (Nautical Association of Corbeil-Essonnes) is a nautical facility that has the ideal and pleasant environment on the banks of the river Seine. Its sole purpose is rowing since it has been used by the historic and century-old club AS Corbeil-Essonnes Aviron 91, founded in 1920. It features a 36m long wooden pontoon with 5m of width with a capacity for two eights simultaneously. An access ramp for people with reduced mobility has also been installed. Rowing is made possible in its 8000m long reach. In addition, there is a very efficient 120m2 weight room and several other rooms that can be used for relaxation, for watching videos, for meetings and for physiotherapy. Showers and sanitary facilities (adapted for people with reduced mobility) are present as well. There is also a large area dedicated to boat storage (storage rooms) where we can find an indoor rowing tank (4 seats) with mirrors. The club possesses two vehicles (a 7-seater and a 9-seater) as well as two trailers for transporting the boats.

Special features

This training centre is ideal for Olympic athletes due to having all required equipment for their training as well as being massive in size. Paralympic athletes will also receive a warm welcome during their training sessions as all facilities are adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The generous green natural setting on the banks of the Seine river is also an asset of this location. This nautical base offers storage space dedicated to the teams which can accommodate several boats (eights, fours, pairs and singles), specific weight training and 15 Concept2 indoor rowers.
In addition, it is located 35 minutes away from the Olympic site of Vaires-sur-Marne, which facilitates access for teams to organise trials and training sessions.

Known for

It is important to note that the ASCE Aviron 91 in Corbeil-Essonnes is seen as an excellent training club in the Île-de-France region. The club has developed both able-bodied and disabled youth. It has several rowers who participate in handicap sport competitions. They have also won several French championship titles and many others. Moreover, the facility regularly provides athletes for the Youth leagues in Vaires-sur-Marne.
In 2021, 4 French championship titles in U19, Seniors and Para-Rowing, two European titles in U19 and a 5th international position in sea rowing reward the sporting momentum of this century-old club.
