Handball

Description

Dedicated to top-level handball, this venue, where Lomme Lille Métropole Handball (LLMH) plays in the National 1 Women's category, comprises a 1,056 m2 (44m X 24m) sports facility for handball. The facility also has a 120 m2 meeting room and a 70 m2 relaxation area. The venue includes all the facilities needed for playing the sport: 4 blocks (showers, changing rooms, restrooms), anti-doping room. The Parc venue is located in the Mitterie district, close to the main roads (1 km from the North West ring road, exit 6), public transport ("Maison des Enfants" metro station is 750 metres away) with connections to the two stations. The multi-sports hall also has a 950-seater stand and 10 PRM seats.

Special features

The Parc venue is 12 km from the Pierre Mauroy stadium and just under 500 metres from the Saint Philibert hospital.

There are numerous 2 and 3 star hotels within a radius of 1.5 km and there is a 4 star hotel 4 km away.

Less than 1 km from the facility is the Ormes athletics stadium and the entrance to the 30-hectare Lomme Urban Park.

Known for

Since 2001, the LLMH first team, the resident club, has been playing in the French National 1 Handball Championship or the second division for women.

The French youth and junior teams have played numerous matches and tournaments here: Against Hungary in 2009, against Germany, Portugal and Spain in 2010 and against Spain, Hungary and Montenegro in 2012.

The French U20 team will play the Dutch U20 team here on 23 April 2022.

The Belgian women’s team came twice in 2017 and 2019 for friendly matches.

For ten years Lomme Lille Métropole Handball has organised the “Venus Cup” at the end of August. This preparatory tournament brings together the best French teams (Brest, Bourg de Péage, Paris, Dijon, etc.).
