Description

The facilities at the Rosemont BMX track are ideal for riders of all ages and abilities: they allow both beginners to build up their skills and more experienced riders to improve and enhance their performance. The track is part of a sports centre which includes a boules piste, shooting range and several football pitches. It can be reached by public transport (tram) and has its own car park, which is useful for transporting and unloading bikes as close to the track as possible. It is even possible to cycle safely to the city centre and hotels via a dedicated cycle path. It is on the Rosemont track that riders like Simon Duchêne or Laura Kaiser started training before they joined the French national team. This preparation centre is one of seven selected in the Besançon area: here, athletes can benefit from all associated services, and also receive a personalised welcome package : transport, translation services, etc. The centre for Sports Performance Enhancement, which includes a hypoxia chamber, cryotherapy, and decompression chamber, is a unique structure available to athletes who come to train in Besançon. @Copyright Besançon & Grand Besançon

Special features

The track has both a mineral and urban atmostphere: it is located at the base of Rosemont hill, which overlooks the site and surrounds it in greenery. This contrast between two seemigly opposed environments makes the track unique and is highly appreciated by riders.

BMX racing is an intense and spectacular sport, and the location of Rosemont makes for a unique show: riders fly above the track and seem like they’re penetrating the heart of the forest.
The track was fully redesigned in 2020, with variations in line and a higher starting hill built to exacting international standards, making it testing enough for even the most skilled riders.

The track promotes excellent racing, obviously, but it is especially the atmosphere in which the riders will be able to prepare which is a plus: it will put them in the best conditions so that the work accomplished in Besançon can lead to olympic-level performance.

Known for

Every year, highly skilled riders come to train at Rosemont, among them the best French or international competitors, like in 2019. However, 2014 was the most spectacular year here. After hosting several rounds of the French cup, the Besançon BMX Club hosted a round of the European League. Rosemont was as busy as ever, with riders from all over Europe and hundreds of spectators gathered around the track to cheer them on, especially local rider Simon Duchêne.

Having placed 4th in the previous round in Manchester, it was a unique opportunity for this Besançon native to race in a European competition in front of his fans, on a track he knows perfectly.
