Description

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is a high mountain town nestled between 1035 and 4810 metres above sea level, at the foot of Mont Blanc. With a population of just over 9000, it has many of the amenities of a large town: easy rail access, free public transport, soft mobility network: cycle paths, shops and supermarkets, hotels and restaurants for all budgets, museums, cultural and social areas, etc.   In the heart of the city, there are many indoor and outdoor sports facilities, notably 100 metres from the Richard Bozon Sports Centre: 1 outdoor athletics ring with 6 lanes (300m), 1 plateau including 4 basketball courts and 2 handball courts, 1 complex of 15 tennis courts including 8 clay courts. A little further away (1km): 1 synthetic football pitch   Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is also an exceptional natural environment surrounding the town. From the Richard Bozon Sports Centre, 580 km of mountain trails are available to sportsmen and women who want to get some fresh air in the heart of nature. There are also 6 identified tourist trail running routes, 3 climbing school sites, an 18-hole golf course and 23 mountain bike routes at all levels: cross-country, enduro and downhill.   In addition to practising handball in preparation for their participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the delegations staying in Chamonix will also be able to take advantage of the wonderful natural environment and the sporting atmosphere that prevails in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

The Richard Bozon Sports Centre is located on the exact site of the Olympic Park of the 1st Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix in 1924.
