Description

Halfway between Nantes and Angers, Ancenis-Saint-Géréon is a pleasant and dynamic town of 11000 inhabitants.  Thanks to ths vicinity of the Loire River and her historical heritage she is a place where living, walking and enjoying oneself is pleasant. As a central town, Ancenis-Saint-Géréon has all the services of a big town : sports and cultural equipments, a hospital, important shopping centers, a castle, a train station, an airfield, a direct access to the motorway…while keeping a human size, without any road traffic problems. Sports plays an important part in the town with more than 60 sports equipments, 50 clubs and 5000 members. The athletics track of the Pressoir Rouge has been totally renovated in 2021. It has all the qualities to welcome high level athletes, able-bodied or fisabled. It also has e time taking tower. The track is about 1 km from the train station and 4 kms from the motorway, which goes straight to Paris. By train Ancenis-Saint-Géréon is 20 minutes away from Nantes and Angers and 2h30 away from Paris. It has 8 lanes on the straight line and 6 on the rest. You can do all the athletic activities and it has been regionnally confirmed. 400 meters away you can find a swimming center with a 25-meter pool and a smaller pool. It also has a sauna, a hammam and a jacuzzi. It will be renovated in 2023 with a budget of 3 M euros. Not far from the stadium, you can find a high standing 4 star hotel located in a wooded area around a castle.

Special features

A complete renovation of the athletic installations has been made in 2020. When the structures will be used, free of charge, the place can be privatized on request. The equipment is accessible to disabled people. It has a meeting room, access to the internet and lighting for the whole site. A body building and fitness facility can be set  in the vicinity. The complex is situated not far from a swimming pool, a hospital, the town center, and the Loire River.

For the triathlon, the site is optimal as we have in the same area athletic tracks and a swimming center 400 meters away. It is close to the Loire River which can take you to the Oudon stretch of water (9 km away). The triathlon club can share some training cycling tracks.

Known for

The athletic track was inaugurated in  September 2021 with the presence of Marie-Josée Perec who was the patron of the event, André Giraud (president of the French federation), Aladji BA (medal winner in the paralympic games) and several paralympic athletes.
