Description

The Vaucluse which owes its name to 'Vallis Clausa' in Latin, meaning 'enclosed valley', is a territory that attracts superlatives. Its natural and historical patrimony is exceptional, as evidenced by the enigmatic and prestigious Gouffre de Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, first source in France and one of the most important in the world according to the volume of water flow; its landscapes almost covering the entire natural range, the Luberon mountain; its villages of which 7 are considered as the most beautiful of France; and of course the "Giant of Provence", i.e. the legendary Mont Ventoux. Since the time when the Romans were growing vineyards and cities, and through the establishment of the papacy of the XIV century, history has been profoundly influencing Vaucluse. It is also a land of tourism and innovation, one of the bigger viticultural departments of France. Furthermore, the Vaucluse is a land of excellency for BMX, on which various pilots of the world's highest level have been practicing, such as Anne-Caroline CHAUSSON (Olympic champion at Beijing in 2008) and Sylvain ANDRE (World champion in 2018). Sarrians is a village ideally located at the heart of the Vaucluse in the plains of Comtat Venaissin, nearby Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. Its BMX's club is one of the most successful of France. Its track is one of the two in France of being classified as international track HC (Hors Classe).
