Description

The Centre Municipal des Sports is a complex with the following amenities: - Robert Grenon arena and its fitness area - locker-rooms and rooms for accommodating the European-level resident sports team - Danton gymnasium - a physical education room - dojos - a swimming pool: 50m pool + training pool - an ice rink   The municipal site is located in Tours city centre with direct access by tram (Palais des Sports stop) and local buses. It is 800m from Tours central station (which runs shuttles to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps TGV train station) and 8.1km from Tours Val de Loire airport.   There is a specially laid out refreshments area in the food court of the Centre Municipal des Sports swimming pool. The Centre Municipal des Sports is located in an urban district with a choice of restaurants 750m away.   Although there is no accommodation on-site, hospitality options can be found within an 850m radius, i.e. 5 minutes away. The centre is under alarm surveillance and video protection.

This legendary centre has staged some of the city’s biggest sports events, from the European matches of the ASPO BASKETBALL team back in the 1970s to those of the TOURS VOLLEYBALL team in more recent times.

Known for

The Tours Volleyball (TVB) team has shone here, participating 16 times in the CEV Champions League in 17 years.

That means more than 60 CEV Champions League matches have been played in the GRENON arena.

This iconic volleyball venue in France has hosted countless international teams who have recently been able to organise training sessions in Tours particularly with the French team, Belgian team, US team and Brazilian team.

Kevin Tillie, 2021 Olympic champion, currently plays at TVB.

Pascal Foussard managed the gold-medal-winning French team at the last Olympics. He is also Managing Director of the Tours local team.
