Host to a university campus (Université Paris Nanterre), the site of the local authority administration (préfecture) of Hauts-de-Seine, Nanterre is situated a mere 11 kilometers from Hôtel de Ville de Paris and its historic heart. As an olympic venue in the Paris candidacy for the 2024 Oympics, Nanterre will organise the swimming and para-swimming events, along with the final waterpolo tournament. In addition to the Paris-la Défense Arena venue, the largest covered sports facility in Europe, Nanterre has on its municipal territory a number of high-quality venues and amenities. We can mention the vast Maurice-Thorez mutli-sports complex, located close to the Nanterre Town-Hall, and the multi-sports Chenevreux gymnasium, listed here among the preparation venues for the games, along with the judo and weight-lifting amenities offered by the Univeristy. The Mont Valérian Sports Centre comprises an area of 4,000 square metres dedicated to sport and athletic performance. Each year, the complex caters to the interests of thousands of people who live in Nanterre, young… and less young Nanterriens.
