Description

The Base d'Aviron (The Rowing Center) de la Loire is located in the Loire department, 90 km far from Lyon and 400 km far from Paris. Within a radius of 40 kilometers around the Base d'Aviron de la Loire are all the useful services: accommodation, catering, hospital, doctors, train station. The Base d'Aviron de la Loire is located on the biggest bend of the river Loire. It is a multisport base. It is a restored farmhouse, equipped with 2 boat garages, a meeting room, changing rooms and toilets, a fitness room, an hors-sac room with kitchenette, a room with ergometers and small offices that can be used as infirmary and office for trainers. A large parking lot can accommodate buses as well as minibuses with boat trailers. The launch area has pontoons with parking places nearby, a storage space for boats with covered racks. The beach near the finishing line is equipped with a sea container arranged to shelter the judges. A nearby parking lot can accommodate buses as well as minibuses with boat trailers. The rowing competition basin is located in natural surroundings, on the Loire River. It is 2 kilometers long and offers 6 navigation lanes, in an environment protected by a classification in natural zone. All of this equipment is accessible to Paralympic athletes.

Special features

Collective accommodation is located in the immediate vicinity of The Base d’Aviron de la Loire: a 3-star campsite, 500 metres away, with bungalows and pitches; a 3 km holiday centre with chalets and reception room; two holiday centres with dormitories, 5 km away each. A tailor-made catering service with delivery of dishes adapted to sports diets may be offered by a caterer.

The natural environment of the Base d’Aviron de la Loire allows to practice sports activities complementary to rowing: kayak, paddle, hiking. In the immediate vicinity, cultural and leisure facilities can offer a moment of relaxation and discovery. Le Château de la Roche, for example, offers escape-games sessions.

Known for

The Base d’Aviron de la Loire is a recent equipment, which opened its doors in 2015. It hosts French rowing clubs in training courses such as the Cercle Nautique Français de Neuilly (2nd division), the Aviron Grenoblois (1st division, 2nd club of France) or the Cercle d’Aviron de Lyon (1st division, 5th club of France)

For the past 4 years, the Base d’Aviron de la Loire has organised the annual regional regatta for young people aged 12 to 14, the last stage of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes youth offer, qualifying for the French championship.

The Base d’Aviron de la Loire houses the headquarters of the Comité Départemental d’Aviron de la Loire as well as a leisure rowing  club: les Rameurs des Gorges de la Loire (The rowers of the Loire gorges).
