Description

Located one hour from Paris and 45 minutes from Orly airport, L’Odyssée aquatics center opened in 2009 and is the largest facility of its kind in France. It offers ideal services for coaching a team. The complex meets PMR standards and can accommodate Olympic and Paralympic athletes. It is 5 minutes from Chartres city center and in the immediate vicinity of 25 hotels. With more than 5,000 m² of water surface area, L’Odyssée offers a full range of services: two Olympic-size pools, one indoor and one outdoor, a 25 m pool and a learning pool. The changing rooms can be privatized according to the size of the hosted teams. In addition to its swimming pools, L’Odyssée includes:

  • a fitness area organized into two cardio-training zones (treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, bikes, etc.) and fully-equipped weight training which will be expanded by 200 m² in 2022 to support high-level delegations and clubs.
  • a diving area, with a 25 m pool with 3 and 6 m deep zones, a 20 m diving pit.
  • Fun and recovery areas including a balneotherapy pool, the largest current river in Europe, an outdoor wave pool, a water slide , beaches and beach volleyball courts.
  • a wellness area with saunas, hammams and a whirlpool;
  • an ice rink of 1300 m²;
  • a self-service restaurant that can be privatized (200 seats inside + 160 outside)

It is located in a landscaped green area, which is perfect for extending and diversifying outdoor training.

Chartres has become essential in aquatic competitions in Europe. It regularly hosts the  French team for its preparations for major events. Since 2009, it has hosted national and international swimming championships including the French long course  (2014, 2021) and short course championships (2009, 2010); the European Short Course Championships (2012); the French junior artistic swimming championships in 2018; the French underwater sports championships (from 2014 to 2016); a round of the swimming world cup (2015, 2016); The French Open (from 2017 to 2019), the national meeting of swimming with fins (2019) and the French synchronized swimming championships (2019). From 2022 to 2024, L’Odyssée will host the Australian Olympic and Paralympic delegations.
