Description

Les Arènes, a multisports centre in Metz, is a building with clean lines, located in the Quartier de l'Amphithéâtre, facing the Jean-Marie Pelt Park, near the train station, bus station, public transport network and numerous services. This facility allows the organisation of large-scale national and international sporting and artistic events. With an overall surface area of 16 850 m2, Les Arènes offers a large hall (4680 m2) with a maximum capacity of 5459 seats, and 8 adjoining rooms occupied by local clubs. These rooms are spread over two levels. Besides a 1200 m2 area for warm up, rooms ranging from 260 to 1150 m2 are aquipped for specific activities: rythmic and artistic gymnastics, baby gym, bodybuilding, dance, kendo, martial arts. Special features

The structure in organised around the main hall designed to host, thanks to its retractable equipment: handball, basketball, gymnastics competitions and various shows.

This versality allows it to host major competitions such as the Handball World Championships, the Davis Cup, the French National Gymnastics Championships, the European Trampoline Championships and the Moselle Open (tennis).

The bodybuilding rooms, rest and catering areas allow teams to train in the best possible conditions and offer an optimal location unit.

The location of Les Arènes, near the train station, several hotels and the Jean-Marie Pelt Park, allows teams to move easily around the city and access various services within a pleasant environment.

Known for

Les Arènes has hosted the group B games for the 25th IHF Men’s Handball World Championships, bringing together teams from Spain, Slovenia, Macedonia, Iceland, Tunisia and Angola (more than 40 000 spectators including many foreigners) in 2017.

It has also hosted (among others), the knock-out matches of the Basketball European Cup, the Trampoline and Tumbling European and World Championships, the Judo and Gymnastics National Championships, as well as the Davis Cup and several editions of the Moselle Open.

It also hosts national and European games (Champions League) of Metz Handball (23 times National Champion) throughout the year.
