Jean Jaurès gymnasium offers a full set of facilities for a very diverse range of users. It has a dedicated wrestling area: traditional wrestling, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman olympic wrestling, Gouren (also known as Breton wrestling) and women’s wrestling. The region excels at this sport and the Sarreguemines wrestling club was crowned French team champion for the 7th time during the December 2019 championships. Sarreguemines is right next to the German border, where there are a host of accommodation options (in Saarbrücken for example). Welcome to the Moselle region! When renovations in 2020 and 2021 are finished, facilities will include: a 987 m2 workout area, 2 reception areas, 1 mobile 104-seater stand, areas for the disabled, 4 dressing rooms with toilets and showers, referee dressing rooms and an office. Wrestling takes up 342 m² with 3 dressing rooms with toilets and showers, 2 offices with internet connection, 1 weight training room, a sauna and club house. Parking is provided, including visitor and disabled spaces, as well as 3 e-car charging points.
The wrestling club’s international reputation draws top-level competitions to Jean Jaurès gymnasium. The French U15 championships and team championships were held in Sarreguemines in recent years. We also held various national competition rounds and hosted the French wrestling squad (pôle France) for training. A partner of the “Sportschule Saarbrücken”, the facility has hosted a number of Saarland (Germany) individual and team championship competitions.
