Angers, chosen as the number 1 best city in France to live in (Express, 2019), and recognised as the top green city in France since 2014, is located 1hr 20 minutes away from Paris Montparnasse station by train:  https://www.angers-connectezvous.fr/ Thanks to its many parks and green spaces; the river Maine which flows through the city; the neighbouring Loire river and its high quality infrastructures; Angers is the ideal city for practicing sports and hosting large-scale sporting events. The Jean Bouin Sports Complexe is situated right by the city centre and Angers Saint-Laud train station (7mins by car). The sports complex extends over 13,000m2 and is home to four high quality sport facilities which offer optimal conditions for training: Jean Bouin swimming pool (50m sports pool), Jean Bouin court (Handball, Basketball), a fencing hall and the Raymond Kopa football stadium (home to Ligue 1 matches and Angers SCO football team). The complex is accessible by car (280 parking spaces, including 16 disabled parking spaces), by bus (30 mins) and bicycle (a large number of cycle paths and hoops for locking up).

Equipped with a nationally recognised swimming pool and a dynamic network of associations, Angers has demonstrated several times its ability to bring together all relevant actors in order to organise important events for different disciplines of the Fédération française de Natation (FFN):

  • France Élite championships in the 25m sports pool (since 2008)
  • France Maîtres championships
  • France Elite Espoirs N2-N1 synchronised swimming championship in 2016
  • France hiver Elite freestyle swimming championship in 2018
  • European Junior synchronised swimming championship in 2008.

Angers equally hosted the France natation Handisport championship in 2020.

The renewal of the partnership agreement concluded with the French Swimming Federation (FFN) and the French Handisport Federation (FFH) in the context of the 2021-2024 Olympiad, follows on from previous agreements, the first of which was signed in 2008.

The Jean-Bouin hall beats to the rhythm of basketballs through hosting the international “Pro Stars” tournament (40th edition in 2021), in the context of the convention signed between the city of Angers, the French federation of basketball (FFBB), its decentralised regional authorities and local clubs.
