Description

The stadium is located in the middle of Aix-les-Bains, near the station with TGV high-speed connections, and just 70 km from the airports of Lyon and Geneva. Hotels, restaurants, shops as well as the lake, with its numerous sporting and tourist attractions, are all within walking distance. The stadium has a 400 m 8-lane synthetic resin athletics track that was awarded IAAF Class 2 certification on the 15th January 2019. It has a separate warm-up area and a seating capacity of 950. Both grounds have floodlights.

Special features

The stadium was used for training by Christophe Lemaitre who won an Olympic medal in the 200 m and was triple European champion in the 100 m, 200 m and 400 m and by Sébastien Mobré who competed in the 100 m and 200 m wheelchair sprint in the 2012 and 2016 Paralympic Games. It is near a thermal spa, which offers a range of recuperative treatments including massages, a steam room, sauna and pool, as well as a 333 m grass athletics track and weights room.

Possibility of open-water training in the Lac du Bourget, France’s biggest natural lake. Lakeside path for road race training sessions. There are also mountain cycling routes in the locality.

Known for

The stadium was used by the French sprint teams to train for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and to host the French Interclub Elite Championships in 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2018.

The stadium has hosted numerous clubs and fixtures:

• – during the 1998 football world cup, the stadium served as the Japanese national team’s base camp;
• – it was used as a training camp by the Guinea and Ivory Coast national teams;
• – it has also been used by League 1 teams such as Monaco, Bordeaux, Paris and Marseilles.

For the last 10 years, the Hong Kong and Australian national triathlon teams have used the centre as their European base camp when participating in the various stages of the world cup.
