Description

The City of Pontoise houses more than 32,000 inhabitants and is located 30 kilometers northwest of Paris. The city is the capital of French Vexin, and overlooks the river Oise. With a rich heritage of more than 2,000 years of history, Pontoise is the only city listed as a "Town of Art and History" in the County. The town is home to historic monuments and 2 museums that bear witness to this label. A fortified city, Pontoise has welcomed many kings of France and Saint-Louis made it his residence. The historical center is circled by ramparts, signals of its medieval past. In the XIXth century, the Impressionists ''took over'' the city and Camille Pissarro lived there for almost fifteen years, leaving a great number of paintings representing Pontoise landscapes. Bordering the town of Auvers-sur-Oise where Van Gogh lived and was buried, Pontoise lies at the heart of the Impressionist Destination. Building on the strength of its past, Pontoise is a city firmly anchored in the present. A hospital complex, a court house, a university center, shops and many companies have settled there. Pontoise is at the heart of the urban community of Cergy-Pontoise, 40 minutes from Gare Paris Saint-Lazare and Gare du Nord, two of the main Paris train stations, and 45 km from Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle and Beauvais airport. Philippe-Hémet sports Hall is ideally located: on the edge of the A15 motorway, 5 minutes from the SNCF and RER train stations.

The Philippe-Hemet complex includes 9 sports halls. On site there are 3 sports grounds, 2 of which are grass fields (rugby and soccer). Renovated in 2018, the Hall includes 2 large group sports halls, a fitness room, a meeting room, a video area, spacious changing rooms with massage tables. There is a guarded indoor parking lot. The site is fitted with a video surveillance system including 9 cameras. The table tennis hall (20×30) and the collective sports room (44×24) are equipped with Led lighting for competitions (1000 lux).

Known for

The resident club the “Association sportive de Pontoise-Cergy Tennis de Table” has ranked among the best French and Européen clubs for many years. Several times champion of France, the club was European Champion in 2014 and 2016 (champion’s Ligue). The room dedicated to table tennis (15 tables) regularly hosts the championships of various youth and adult teams. The large room fitted out for PRO A matches can accommodate more than 400 spectators.
