Description

Located between Rouen and Le Havre, not far from Paris (2 hours) Lillebonne is an easily accessible city, surrounded by woods, in the normand country. The normand coast is not far : Etretat lies at 30 minutes, Deauville is at 50 minutes.   Lillebonne is part of an agglomeration with about 50 other cities, « Caux Seine Agglo », whose center is on the river Seine.   Lillebonne owns a particularly remarkable historical heritage (from the romain empire untill today) and provides many cultural, and of course sportive equipments. Hotels and restaurants are available in the city.   Lillebonne gained the « active and sportive city label » in 2018 and has 26 dynamic sportive associations, which are involved in the city and eager to allow ill, distressed or handicaped people to practise a sport. These sportive associations count 2900 members, (1/3 of the lillebonnese population : 9000 people).   Thanks to its equipments, accessible for handicaped people, (5 gymnasiums, 5 soccer fields, 2 dojos, 7 tennis courts (3 of them covered), an athletics track, an aquatic center and many green areas with marked hiking or VTT trails...), Lillebonne provides the possibility of various physical and sportive activities, where it’s possible to go by foot, which is very convenient for an olympic preparation.

Special features

The Ostermeyer center regroups 2 gymnasiums : the Micheline Ostermeyer and Pierre Mendès France gymnasiums, less than 100 meters from each other. This facilitates the organization of simultaneous meetings and reduces travel (A total of 13 badminton courts can be used). In addition, there are numerous parking spaces adjacent to these facilities.

The Ostermeyer center is located in a 15-hectare wooded natural site with ponds, grassy areas and paths for physical activities (jogging, relaxation, …).

An aquatic center is also less than 100 m away, composed of a leisure pool (wave pool, slide), a wellness center (sauna, jaccuzzi) and an equipped fitness room.

A municipal hall, which is 100 meters away and can accommodate 600 people, can also be made available for receptions or simply serve as a canteen if needed.

Known for

The Ostermeyer Gymnasium has hosted many handball meetings between female and male D1 or D2 clubs (HAC Handball, Octeville, the USDK, Gonfreville l’Orcher, Cherbourg, Caen).
Women’s national handball teams (Brazil, Korea) have also been welcomed to play matches during tours in France.
The basketball team of St Thomas Le Havre, playing on Pro A, also came to play preparation matches.
International double dutch competitions were also organized there.
In June 2018, the construction of the PMF gymnasium made it possible to host the UNSS French badminton and adapted sport championships, in which 27 colleges participated.
