Description

The city of Granville is known for the vitality of its sporting life and the quality of its sports facilities. Its coastal location, in the bay of Mont St Michel, provides for a very wide range of sports and nautical activities. Located less than 3 hours 15 minutes from Paris by train or car and 1 hour from Rennes and Caen airports, the Cité des Sports complex offers up to date facilities, accessible to all. The complex comprises three gymnasiums, a Dojo,  weight room, body expression and relaxation room, and a boxing gym. In addition, there are additional spaces comprising two meeting rooms, a team leader’s or coach's office, numerous changing rooms, massage rooms and storage spaces. Special features

The Cité des Sports is located in the heart of town, adjoining the new aquatic centre with its hammam, sauna and wellness area. Located just 300 meters from the sea and the hospital, the centre is fifteen minutes walk from the town centre, hotel facilities, and the thalassotherapy centre.

A part of the complex is available for private hire with entrances reserved for delegates. It can also provide space for on-site catering.

The Cité des Sport’s main strength is its ability to provide for delegations’ various needs in a single location, with a host of facilities: Well-equipped gym, weight room, locker rooms, massage rooms, staffroom, meeting room with video projector, restaurant area, hammam and sauna.

Known for

Granville stages the final of the European Junior Girls Team Tennis Championship every two years.

We also hosted the final of the French university futsal football championship at the Cité des Sports in 2015, and the final of the French school badminton championship in 2016. In 2017, we welcomed the French rugby team, and the US women’s delegation for the Rugby World Cup in France.

The local Handball club whose men’s team is in Nationale 1 and the women’s team in Nationale 2, use the Cité des Sports all year round for their championship matches.

Granville has also hosted training for several professional French football teams in recent years: SM Caen, EA Guingamp, AJ Auxerre, Olympique de Marseille.
