Description

The preparation centre is spread over five sites : the Ghani Yalouz sports centre, the Léo Lagrange stadium, the University Franche-Comté installation for athletic (stadium and indoor hall) but also physical preparation, the Mallarmé swimming pool and the Marie Paradis Sport climbing hall . The centre is situated in the heart of the city, in a quiet area, ideal for practising sport. The three complexes face each other and have a restaurant area on-site. The university Franche-Comté Sadium is only 5’ walk from campus. The centre can be adapted if need be. The centre is accessible by bus, a stone’s throw away from the town centre, its hotels and the energy and warmth of life in Besançon. It is also easily accessible by car and has its own free, secure car park. Less than ten minutes away from the health care services of the University Hospital, the Ghani Yalouz sports centre will be ideal for peaceful preparation, combining concentration with tension relief by alternating high-intensity training and recovery time. This preparation centre is one of seven selected in the Besançon area. Athletes can benefit from all associated services and also receive a personalised welcome package : transport, translation services,etc. The centre for Sports Performance Enhancement (hypoxia chamber, cryotherapy, decompression chamber) is a unique structure on offer to athletes who come to train in Besançon. @Copyright Besançon & Grand Besançon

Special features

The centre offers numerous sports facilities (gymnasiums, running tracks and swimming pool, sport climbing hall) with all services for top-level sports training ( workout room, sauna, treatment and recuperation area).

The dining area is available on site with a relaxation area to allow athletes to rest between training sessions.

Numerous athletes have trained in this emblematic place in Besançon and all are unanimous in their praise of the quality of the facilities.

Known for

In 2018 the complex became the Ghani Yahlouz Sports Centre to honour the local wrestler who became not only European Champion in 1995 in the -68 kg category but also Olympic Vice-Champion in Atlanta in 1996.

The sports complex is the home of the ESBF Women’s First Division Handball Team as well as the GSBF Men’s Second Division Handball Team and each week hosts LFH and Pro D2 matches as well as EHF cup events.

Occasionally, the centre plays host to the French Tennis teams (Fed Cup), futsal as well as the French wrestling championships.

It was at the Léo Lagrange stadium tht Teddy Tamgho qualified for the triple jump at the World Championships : that qualifying jump would go on to give him the title of World Champion.

Since 2013, Besançon has hosted the French round of the Paratriathlon World Cup.
