Description

The CREPS (Centre de ressources, d’expertise et de performance sportive - centre for sport resources, expertise and performance) is located in the Occitanie region, at the heart of Montpellier, a city known for sporting and cultural excellence. The CREPS nestles in a green site of almost 3 hectares, 15 minutes from the city centre and 30 minutes from the Mediterranean. This training facility is jointly managed by the French Sports Ministry and the Occitanie region. The complex is close to motorways (A9, A75), Montpellier Fréjorgues airport (22 km) and the rail station (5 km) and can also be accessed via a sustainable transport network (public transport and a bike share scheme). It has the facilities to welcome top flight athletes with its state-of-the art equipment. There is a range of equipment available for use, including a spacious gym, a heat acclimation training chamber, an ice bath and a sauna, with an athletics track close by along with two sports halls, including the Jacques Shaw hall which is equipped for volleyball. Several nearby sports facilities (athletics track, rugby pitch, tennis courts, sports halls) can be accessed through partner networks. The CREPS can provide 9-seater courtesy vehicles for getting around. Special features

The catering service works closely with sports federation nutritionists and there is the option of creating bespoke menus at the request of teams. The CREPS also offers on-site accommodation and has partnerships with 3- and 4-star hotels to offer greater choice.

Two physiotherapy rooms able which can accommodate 4 physiotherapists at the same time; they have massage tables, refrigerators and ice machines.

A press conference room is available if required.

Multi-media resources are available (video camera, projector and sound system) to record training sessions. There is wifi across the site.

Known for

The French volleyball federation’s men’s national training centre has been based at the CREPS Occitanie Montpellier site for almost forty years. Several generations of international players have trained here, such as Philippe Blain.

It was used a national team preparation venue during the European Volleyball Championships which took place in Montpellier in 2019.

The French Federation for judo, jujitsu, kendo and related disciplines (FFJDA) has previously chosen the complex when preparing for world championships and Olympic Games.

The CREPS is the national training centre for the following sports: BMX, rhythmic gymnastics, basketball, triathlon, handball, athletics, baseball and volleyball.

Kevin Mayer, a decathlete, and Cassandre Beaugrand and Léonie Periault, both members of the French triathlon team, train on site.

The Occitanie region is the top region in France for participation in sport: 77.6% of the population, 3.48 million inhabitants in other words (2018).
