The CREPS of Bordeaux includes 11 teaching rooms, 1 computer room, 1 high-performance Wifi network, 1 lounge, 1 medical and evaluation service, 1 recovery unit and numerous sports infrastructures: 3 specialized rooms, 3 gyms, weight rooms (1 of 550m²), 1 roller rink, 1 rugby field, 1 football field, 1 athletic track, 1 10m/50m shooting range, 1 indoor/outdoor archery complex, 1 BMX track (Olympic starting ramps), beach volleyball courts. It will be enlarged and renovated by the end of 2021 with a new 2000m² collective sports hall (with video devices for the outdoor teams, weight room, treatment room), and new accommodation (53 rooms including a third for disabled people, study and relaxing rooms).
Special features
The “Bird Protection League” refuge benefits from two ponds and ancient trees. The CREPS 15 hectares peaceful and green park enables the flora and fauna development as well as the athletes’ training, recovery and health, all in one place.
Close to Bordeaux, 15 minutes away from the airport and the train station, it is served by the tram, bus and other major roads.
Its welcoming and high performance culture is highlighted by the athletes preparation for the Tokyo Olympics, all coming from 23 different sports facilities, but also by the « Grand Insep label » – silver level since 2016, and through the daily commitment of its 30 permanent professionals dedicated to medical and performance monitoring.
Known for
The CREPS of Bordeaux has 12 medallists and 26 others selected for the Olympics and Paralympic Games as well as many medallists in the World Championships.
During her visit in 2012, the Sports Minister, Valérie Fourneyron, described the centre as being «one of the jewel of the various establishments». The Sport Minister, Laura Flessel, trained at the CREPS during her sports career, confirmed these remarks during her visit in 2018.
Among the last national delegations hosted at the CREPS in Bordeaux are the Judo Paralympic Brazilian team, the Swimming Paralympic French team, the french Olympics Judo and Pistol shooting teams, not to mention the many youth French teams.
