Mâcon is ideally located in the heart of Europe. The capital of South Burgundy can be found 1 hour 35 minutes away from the Olympic sites of Paris 2024 by high-speed rail and 3 hours 45 minutes by car. The two international airports of Lyon Saint-Exupéry and Geneva allow you to reach this area in just 1 hour by car. Thanks to its activities, culture, historic heritage and its famous poet, Alphonse de Lamartine, Mâcon offers all the advantages of a city in an outstanding natural setting. More recently, Mâcon was the training town for the international footballer Antoine Griezmann. Mâcon is also intrinsically linked to its internationally-recognised Mâconnais-Beaujolais wines, which are perfect for social occasions. The Saugeraies sports complex located 1 mile north of the city centre offers facilities for nine sports (table tennis, climbing, judo, squash, boxing, weightlifting, pool, aerobics and fencing). The permanent fencing hall, made up of 12 electrified tracks can be split into 20 tracks. It has a mobile gallery seating 300 people. This hall is used to host competitions and advanced training events. The single-storey site conforms to standards to welcome people with reduced mobility; it is equipped with six handifixes. The complex has an 80-seater hall with a catering area enabling your staff and athletes to eat on site. The city has eight 4-star hotels and eighteen 3-star hotels, i.e. 807 rooms less than 10 minutes away.
Staff are available to help, and meet any requests that you may have during your stay.
The local Mâcon Fencing club has 100 members of the French Fencing Federation (FFE) and employs a full-time fencing master.
