Description

The « complexe Raquette » is part of a 80 000m² sports site called the sports complex of Tharabie, it also includes : - One football stadium (1 pitch with synthetic lawn + a second with a natural lawn) - A sports hall dedicated to winter bowling sports and that also becomes a gym during the summer. - A reception hall with two separate meeting rooms. - A skate-park   The Facility in itself includes 2 indoor tennis courts, 2 outdoor ones as well as a hall entirely dedicated to table tennis. It is equipped with 12 competition tables « Cornilleau » labelled ITTF, thus offering  an area of 12 tables in their training version (a space of 10mx5m) and 4 tables in a competition configuraton (16mX9m), all that with high-quality lighting, and a taraflex ground especially designed for high-level competition, certified by the French Federation of Table Tennis The complete area of these facilties is 600 m2. As this hall is windowless, there's no sunlight, removing the discomfort of sunrays : the competitors will not be bothered by the natural light nor by the potential prying looks of passer-bys. All the equipment, certified by the French Federation of Table Tennis, is fitted with changing rooms completely accessible to persons with reduced mobility   The Sports Hall and the Reception hall of Tharabie including a 300m² reception space as well as the 2 meeting rooms will also be made fully available to the athletes for their preparation and recovery. The whole of the equipment is adapted to people with reduced mobility.   Finally the city offers a natural and historical area (with a lake, hiking paths)  and also landmarks ( The Fortified house of Les Allinges, The Fallavier Castle) that offer the possibility of an outdoor cardio-training in exceptionnal surroundings, All that within a few yards away from the training facility.

Special features

The main asset of the Facility and more generally of the city of St Quentin-Fallavier is of course its exceptionnal geographic position.

The city has indeed a strategical position first in terms of transportation :

  • It is 10 minutes away from the St Exupery airport and its TGV station.
  • It is 15 minutes away from the city of Lyon ( the access to the A43 motorway being a mere 5 minutes away)

But also in terms of services :

  • The hospital and functional reeducation centre is 15 minutes away.
  • Hotels are only 10 minutes away.

The other asset is the existence and availability of a sports hall entirely dedicated to table tennis and furbished with high-level equipment.

Finally, the visiting delegation, thanks to the complete access it will be granted to the Reception Hall and Sports Hall, will have all the services (physical activity rooms, meeting rooms, catering area) on a single site.

Known for

If the city as a whole is used to organising major national and international sporting events ( e.g. In 2022, the 3rd stage of the « Ligue Sports Boules M1 », the arrival of the 2nd stage of the Alpes Isère Tour of cycling – an event on the UCI calendar),  the site of the « complexe Raquette » itself also welcomes each year some 200 table tennis players of all levels and from  all over the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region for an event know as the “12 hours for table tennis players – The Bastien Trophee”.This event is organised by the local table tennis clubs (the OSQ Tennis de Table and the OSQ Tennis de Table Handisport) with all its benefits going to medical research.
