Description

On the outskirts of the largest cognac houses, the Equestrian Centre of Cognac is located in Cherves Richemont, France, in a particularly unspoiled area of Charente. Created by the Community of Municipalities of Cognac (communauté de communes), the equestrian centre has always favoured horse trials activities. 5 kilometers from Cognac, 25 kilometers from the Bordeaux/Paris motorway, the centre has a 25-hectare enclosed, grassy and wooded training ground. It is equipped with: -                A closed 60 x 20 metre riding hall in sand/fibre mix and a grandstand; -                2 dressage arenas of 60 x 20 meters in sand/fibre mix; -                A training area for show jumping of 80 x 40 meters in sand/fibre mix; -                A resting area; -                An automatic walker for 6 horses; -                A modular cross-country field (15 hectares – about 37 acres); -                An Havrincourt ring; -                A 1,200 x 4 meters galloping track in sand and lined with fences; -                Locker rooms; -                A panoramic clubhouse; -                A meeting room, infirmary, saddlery; -                Many box stalls; -                Storage areas, horse showers. -                Paddocks.   The centre is licensed to accommodate athletes with disabilities.

Special features

The centre offers all the above facilities on one site to help prepare for horse trials in excellent conditions. The structures are well-maintained and up to standards.

The location of the centre, close to a town of 20,000 inhabitants, in a residential setting, allows athletes to train in peace and with serenity.

The centre is very regularly made available to associations for training, but also to riders at national and international level.

During the year, the Grand Cognac (greater Cognac) area hosts high-profile events (Cognac blues passion, cognac festival…) and more intimate events (Coup de Chauffe,..), making up an eclectic cultural offer.

Additionally, for better recovery, the X’eau aquatic centre will be available to athletes.

Known for

The association of the equestrian centre, with its many volunteers, hosts horse trials and jumping events 5 to 6 times a year. To date, events have been scheduled for the regional finals. As such, the organisation and quality of the field have been validated by big names of horse trials such as Marie Christine Duroy and Pierre Michelet.
