Judo

Description

The Château-Gontier area is a training ground for Judo, and has already received foreign delegations. The city and the sports section will therefore welcome you in privileged conditions to prepare your competitions. Located on the sports park, the future dojo of the Pays de Château-Gontier will occupy a building of 1,191m², including 684m² of tatami. It will also include a weight room. It will be located just a few metres from the athletics track and near the swimming pool which, in addition to its 25m pool, offers a sauna and a hammam. This new Judo complex will open its doors at the end of 2022. Self-catering chalets will provide you with a peaceful and secure setting on the banks of the river La Mayenne. For your trips, the local authority provides 9-seater minibuses. The sports department has a fleet of 4 vehicles with further additionnal minibuses can be added if needed. Different timetables, diets, nutritional monitoring, the variety of the area's catering services is to be appreciated according to your needs. Nearby, you will benefit from the expertise of the hospital (Centre Hospitalier du Haut Anjou), which can provide medical follow-up and respond to your emergencies. As a partner of the community, the Centre Hospitalier du Haut-Anjou is linked to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire d'Angers, which has a sports medicine platform.

Special features

Vanessa M’Balla, African champion in all categories and 3rd in +78kg in 2017 and who represented Cameroon at the Olympic Games in Rio, trains within the club and is also a coach.

In addition, the local club is used in welcoming foreign delegations (Cameroon, Argentina, Cuba, etc…) coming to prepare in France before the national tournament in Bercy.

Known for

In 2007: the club organised a Judo week, in the presence of the French Judo team.

From 2007 to 2014: the club organised the National Black Belt Tournament, a preparatory competition for the French 2nd Division Championship. This was the first time that the Pays de la Loire League had delegated this organisation to a sports club.

In 2015: the club organised the Pays de Château-Gontier international tournament, welcoming several foreign delegations in preparation for the Bercy tournament.

Since 2016, the club has been organising annual high-level training courses bringing together athletes from several foreign delegations (national teams from Cuba, Argentina, Venezuela and Kosovo; athletes from Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire who took part in the Olympic Games).
