Located in La Varenne district and inaugurated on December 2, 2018, the Gilbert Noël Sports Center (a High Environmental Quality building suitable for disabled people) offers 5,800 m² of surfaces available to athletes on 5 levels. In addition to 6 associations and schools premises, there are 20 cloakrooms rooms and the following practice rooms:
- an annex room of 100 m²
- a 100 m² weight room
- a modular multipurpose room of 720 m²
- an omnisport hall of 1,344 m² with grandstands with a capacity of 400 places
- an artificial climbing structure in a dedicated 144 m² space
- a common living room of 56 m²
- a large 900 m² Dojo including 690 tatami mats with 317 seats capacity stands
The Gilbert Noël Sports Center allows the sport practice of a large number of activities such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, dance, gymnastics, weight training, climbing, judo, karate, Tai Chi or aikido.
These spaces are dedicated to the 2100 students, received every week during the day and to 15 sports associations from Saint-Maur who practices their specific trainings during the week and their animations, competitions on weekends.
Many remarkable sports competitions take place there, such as the different activities of SMUS Judo and Regional and National badminton tournaments.
On December 2nd 2018, the center was inaugurated in presence of the judo master Fabien CANU. On request of the City, the double World Judo Champion, from Saint-Maur for 35 years, accepted to give his name to the dojo of the new sports center.
