Description

The Bocage intercommunal whitewater stadium, in Sainte-Suzanne, on Reunion Island, meets the requirements of a high level of sport in canoe kayak slalom. The site hosts an artificial river with international standards with a length of 250 meters and a maximum flow of  12 m3/s, sports  infrastructures suitable for training and competition, as well as an equipped physical preparation room. Athletes also have at their disposal several comfortable changing rooms, a large fitted and secure storage room for their boats… and free Wi-Fi access.   Located in the city of Sainte-Suzanne, on the north coast of Reunion Island, the stadium is served by the main road, a few kilometers from Roland Garros international airport and Saint-Denis, the capital of Reunion Island. The Sainte-Suzanne whitewater stadium is one of the few whitewater stadiums in the southern hemisphere. Reunion Island’s tropical climate offers ideal conditions for training all year round, especially as part of a winter preparation : from November to March, it’s summer in Reunion Island !

Reunion Island also offers many possibilities for activities as part of a high level training camp : nautical activities in the many natural pools, waterfalls and natural rivers and at the sea, mountain hikes in unique landscapes in the world…

The athletes and their staff will have a dedicated trilingual contact (French / English / Spanish), who facilitates discussions before their arrival and during their stay on site.

The Sainte-Suzanne whitewater stadium welcomes many international athletes every year as part of their preparation.

For the 2020/2021 season, the whitewater stadium is home to the world’s elite canoe kayak slalom, with more than 100 high level athletes from 12 different nations who are among the best in the world in the discipline.

Many athletes who have won titles at World Championships, European Championships and / or Olympic Games are doing their winter preparation here.
