Description

The City of Hyeres is located on the Mediterranean coast, in the Var, equidistant from Marseilles and Nice and their airports. Several transport infrastructures provide an easy access to the nautical base of Saint Pierre harbor; an international airport in the immediate proximity, a motorway axis crossing the city and a train station within 5 kilometers. The Nautical base of Saint Pierre harbor was completely renovated in 2019. Open all year round, with an area of 1.300 m², it has a reception and information hall, offices, meeting rooms, multi-purpose multimedia rooms, sport halls, changing rooms and toilets, repair workshops and secure storage. All the equipments are accessible to reduced mobility people. Outside, large storage spaces and boat parking (7000 m²) are available and equipped with rinsing devices. Fifty linear meters of inclined plans allow the simultaneous launching of more than 20 boats. The Hyeres nautical field of play is recognized worldwide for both its technical quality and its exceptional environment. Located in the Eastern roadstead, facing the Iles d’Or, in the centre of the Port Cros National Park, with an area of 100 km², it enjoys favorable weather conditions all year round. The field of play and the navigation areas are in the immediate proximity of the nautical base and its launching areas.

The experience and organizational skills of the City of Hyeres for nautical events are unequalled in France and recognized internationally. All the competitors agree on considering the Hyeres nautical field of play as one of the best in the world.

The City, in partnership with the French Federation, has been organizing the Olympic Sailing Week for 50 years. This event welcomes around 1000 competitors participating in all Olympic sailing series.

From 2013 to 2015, the City also hosted the Sailing World Cup, the only French stage on the ISAF tour.

Many French, European and World championships have also been organized in Hyeres in Laser and Star but also in Funboard and Kitesurf.
