Description

This white water venue is located in the National Park of Ecrins, in the heart of the Hautes-Alpes department. Being close to the southern France, it enjoys a generous sunshine (more than 300 days of sun/year). More than this, the high altitude offers an interesting feature in sports training. You can easily and quickly reach this place from the italian international airport of Turin and the Oulx TGV station. In the same one place you can find : the whitewater stadium, a flat water water lake, a meeting room, a video room, offices, changing rooms, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a climbing gym, a fitness room, a football stadium, a flatwater lake with 15 gates. The slalom venue  is situated at the start of a 35 km stretch of white water and in the heart of a vast area with many other  rivers of all difficulties, nearby. The characteristics of the white water stadium : An manmade construction  in the natural river bed of the Durance river (built in 1993), length 400m, height difference 4m (1% slope), usable flow rates from 15 to 80 m3, 50 permanent slalomgates, high versatility due to the width of the bed and the configuration of obstacles and  white water features. Special features

This white water stadium in the middle of the mountains, in the National Park of Ecrins, allows you to combine many activities to perfect your training (walking, mountain biking, climbing, and so on …).

You can find many accomodations wich will allow you to choose the ideal location according to your own wishes : either very close to the whitewater stadium and its sports complex, or located in an ideal altitude station for breathing and a starting point for all activities.

Possibility to access a complete recovery system, the Recovery Box (RB 360).

Known for

This whitewater stadium, located in the city of L’Argentière-La Bessée, is well known by athletes and worldwilde delegations.

Since it was built, it has hosted 12 french canoe slalom championships, the European slalom championships in 2006 and a World Cup in 2011.

It is also an usual training site for teams coming from France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland …
