Description

The nautical base “La Corderie”, built recently (2020), is located at the gateway to Brittany, 50 minutes from Nantes Atlantique airport and Rennes airport, and only 2 hours from Paris by train (TGV). In the heart of an exceptional and protected environment, our training site offers more than 80 kms of navigation on the river Vilaine, without locks (35km upstream and 45km downstream): an ideal playground for endurance training! The river also has several straight lines suitable for speed trainings. It is mainly used for nautical or leisure activities without commercial traffic, leaving plenty of space for rowing. Connected to the major European cycle routes (Velodyssée 1), athletes can warm up by running or cycling directly from the boathouse on the old towpaths along the river.

Special features

Athletes will be accommodated in a brand new nautical base, with high-quality rowing equipments, which meets the standards for people with reduced mobility:

  1. Pontoons allowing the simultaneous launching of several boats
  2. Weight room
  3. Ergometers room
  4. Locker rooms and toilets
  5. Safety boats
  6. 100 m2 meeting room with catering facilities
  7. Storage space of 1000 m2

The boathouse is ideally located near the city centre and close to all services, accessible on foot: 15 minutes from the TGV train station (5 minutes by car), 10 minutes from the swimming pool, 5 minutes from restaurants and hotels.

Known for

Since the creation of the local rowing society (Aviron Pays de Redon) in 1979, many rowers have succeeded one another: some have been rowing quietly for many years, others have distinguished themselves in prestigious competitions such as Damien Margat, world champion, in 2004. All of them have shared and still share the pleasure of rowing in this exceptional environment.

Over the years, the site has hosted numerous endurance and speed competitions, regional rowing courses, the French canoeing championships, and each year, the French open water swimming cup. Foreign delegations come every year to row on our river.

As for the nautical base, it has just been built and can’t wait to write the first lines of its history… with you!
